The University E-Library has been providing services in making researchers, students, faculty members and the university more driven. The E-Library has a fully-air conditioned facility that features 168 functional computer units with internet connection, both desktop and laptops, Learning Commons, Audio-Visual Room, and Laptop Area. The library is also equipped with 10 CCTV units and has 6 Wi-Fi routers which ensures connectivity in the entire building in order to enhance educational development and provide educational resources for effective teaching, learning and research activities.

Library Card

How do I get a library card?

The requirements to get a library card are two (2) copies 1×1 recent picture, enrollment print-out, and you will be asked to fill out a form.

What should I do if I lose my library card?

Loss of this card should be reported immediately to the librarian. It shall be issued only upon presentation of affidavit of loss, 1×1 picture and a payment of P5.00.

Can we borrow books without a library card?

No, a library card is needed to borrow a book except for faculty and staff.

Can we use computers without a library card?

Yes.

Returning/Borrowing/Donating Books

How do I borrow, renew and return library materials?

To borrow a book, the borrower should fill out a book card and the student should leave his/her library card to the librarian/assistant. To renew a book, the borrower must go to the library to ask for the renewal of the book. The borrower will then again fill out the book card of the reference he/she borrowed. Circulation and Filipiniana collections are circulated daily and can be brought home for overnight use at 5:00 p.m. and to be returned on the next day at 8:00 a.m. The regular loan period for faculty and staff is one month, and may be renewed as often as desired.

How many books can I check out?

For students, you can borrow 1 – 2 books. For faculty and staff, you can borrow 3 – 5 books.

How to reserve books?

Reserve Books must be returned not later than an hour subject to renewal for the same unless requested by another user. Reserve books borrowed at 11:00 a.m. should be returned not later than 2:00 p.m. on the same day.

What should I do if I lost a book?

Inform the assigned librarian at the section where you borrowed the book. A borrower shall be responsible for any book lost or damaged and shall be required to replace it with exactly the same title or its newest edition.

How can I donate books to the library?

The library welcomes your donations, if you are considering donating items in the library, please send an email at [email protected] or you may visit the Director of Libraries Office.

How much is the overdue fine?

The overdue fine is P1.00 per hour. Overnight books can be borrowed at 5:00 PM and must be returned on or before 8:30 AM the following morning.

Use of the Internet Computers

What are the rules in the use of the internet computers?

1. To use the library internet facility, one must be a bona fide student, faculty or staff of the University of Nueva Caceres.

2. Flash drives are not allowed. Please save your work by sending it to your e-mail or you may ask the assistance of the IT Support to save your files into your flash drive.

3. Internet terminals are for web-based e-mails, data searches and retrieval for academic and research purposes only.

4. To provide equal opportunity for all users to access the Internet, the library may limit use. Please limit your time on the workstation to ONE HOUR or less when others are waiting to use it.

5. Accessing sites which are not research-related is strictly prohibited including chatting, games, accessing YouTube video for entertainment, and the like.

6. Copyrighted information may not be used or sold unless the right to do so has been purchased from the owner of the data.

What is a call number?

A call number is the combination of letters and numbers that indicates where an item can be found in the library. Most call numbers are located on the spine or front of a book.

How do I find books and periodicals on the shelves?

For books, use the Online Public Access Catalog to find the title, location, call number, and details of the book. The librarian and student assistant will assist you in finding the resources.

How do I find dissertations and theses? How do I access them? Can I photocopy or capture a digital copy of the thesis?

You can find dissertations and thesis at Graduate School Library and General References. Photocopying and taking pictures of the thesis is strictly prohibited.

How do I request titles that are not available in the library?

To request titles that are not available in the library. You can write your book suggestions at the available “suggest – a – book” form posted at every section of the library.

I am a UNC student. What will I do if I want to research in other institutions/ libraries?

You should have a referral letter signed by the Director of Libraries. This letter will be presented to the other library/ institution.

What are the requirements for UNC ALUMNI, REVIEWERS, or OFF-CAMPUS RESEARCHERS to have access to the library?

For UNC Alumni and Reviewers, you can present your School ID/UNC Alumni ID to have access to the library. For off – campus researchers, a referral letter from your school library is needed to access the UNC Library.

Where is the new location of the Law Library?

The Law Library is now located at the 1st floor of New Building room 105 – 106.
